Eighteen players shot 67 or better at the 3M Open on Friday. Scores were low and birdies plentiful — 581 to be exact.
However, not everyone played that well, with 32 players posting scores of 74 or below.
Taylor Pendrith finished bogey-free through 36 holes and is leading the tournament by two strokes at 12 under par.
The TPC Twin Cities was a tough place for players on Friday as winds picked up, with defending champion Lee Hodges struggling both days and being one of the players eliminated from the cut.
Some of the players ranked in the top 70 did not play well the first two days.
The 3M Open requires players to minimize mistakes and score birdies, and these top players were unable to do that.
Let’s take a look at some of the popular players who didn’t qualify in Minnesota.

Tom Hogue entered this week 20th in the FedEx Cup standings, not playing badly but just not with his putter.
Austin Eckroth and Peter Malnati both finished at par after both days, two players who finished well enough in the top 70 but likely dropped a spot or two after missing the cut.
Luke List, precariously ranked 71st, didn’t have a good second round, finishing with a 5-over 76 after a strong 4-under 67 on Thursday.
Adam Hadwin played poorly on Thursday with a 4-over 75 but bounced back on Day 2, but it wasn’t enough to tee it up this weekend. He sits in 37th place in the playoff bracket.
Michael Thorbjornsen and amateur sensation Luke Clanton played together at one over par over the two days, and both came into the tournament riding high momentum, but the winds at TPC Twin Cities were strong.
The PGA Tour is off next weekend due to the Olympics, but the season finale, the Wyndham Championship, will determine the top 70 players and kick off the FedExCup playoffs. Who will make it to Memphis? The competition around the cutoff mark is fierce.
