The Mets will be sending a promising pitcher to the Nationals to complete the Jesse Winker trade.
The Mets announced Sunday morning that they had dealt minor league right-handed pitcher Tyler Stewart to Washington after news of the acquisition of Winker broke Saturday night.
It is unclear when it was returned at the time.
The 24-year-old Stewart was the No. 17 ranked prospect in the Mets’ farm system, according to MLB.com.
The 6-foot-9, 250-pound starting pitcher has started 17 games for Double-A Binghamton this year, posting a 3.96 ERA with 90 strikeouts in 84 innings.
The Mets selected Stewart in the sixth round of the 2022 draft out of Southern Miss.

Stuart performed well last season with Single-A Brooklyn, posting a 1.55 ERA in 14 starts, before posting a 4.11 ERA in seven starts with Binghamton in 2023.
The acquisition of Winker gives the Mets an additional left-handed player in their outfield.
The 2021 All-Star has 11 homers, 45 RBI and a .793 OPS this season, including 10 homers, 36 RBI and an .840 OPS against right-handed pitching.
Winker returned Sunday before the Mets completed a four-game series against the Braves, and the team optioned DJ Stewart to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.
