At least one person was killed and six others were injured after a shootout in a Rochester park on Sunday evening, according to reports.
According to Rochester police, a shooting occurred in Maplewood Park around 6:20 p.m., leaving one man in his 20s dead and another in critical condition. According to Rochester First.
Five other victims were also taken to hospitals in upstate New York with minor injuries, authorities said.
Police said heavy gunfire disrupted a large gathering in the park, sending the crowd fleeing in chaotic conditions. A video that appears to be of the shooting was posted on social media.
Further information about the victims or the shooting, including the number of suspects, was not immediately available.
“At this point we don’t know how many people were involved in the shooting,” Rochester Police Lt. Greg Bello said, according to the department. “We are investigating the matter and are speaking with as many witnesses as we can.”
No arrests have been made.
