Biden ‘Deserved Better’ than People Publicly Demanding He Step Down

Gov. Wes Moore (D-Md.) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that President Joe Biden deserves better treatment than public calls for him to withdraw from the presidential race.

“Just days after that disastrous debate, you said that Joe Biden is not going to and should not drop out of the race and strongly supported him continuing to run. Have your concerns grown as the week has gone on?” guest host Martha Raddatz asked.

“I’ve spoken privately with the president. I believe strongly that if you care about anybody, you tell them the truth. And I’ve had private conversations where I told the president the truth,” Moore said.

He continued, “I also know that the president deserves to be treated better than the people who are running around him and publicly calling for the president of the United States to step down, especially when you look at the track record of the Biden-Harris Administration. I’ve had great partners in the Biden-Harris Administration to get us the results we need in Maryland, so I knew that when he said he was going to continue to move forward, I would stand with him.”

Raddatz asked, “But you said you told him the truth. What was the truth?”

Moore said, “Well, I think the truth is that there were real concerns. I know there were real concerns that people felt, but I also know that people communicated to me what they felt. And I’m a person of integrity, so I believe I can have private conversations and tell people the truth. I can tell them what I heard without turning around and trying to publicly embarrass them.”
