Kamala Harris’s First Fundraiser as Likely Democrat Nominee a Dud

Vice President Kamala Harris’ first fundraising spree after being informally selected as the Democratic nominee was largely a flop, failing to come close to the amount raised at one luncheon by Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), former President Donald Trump’s running mate.

About 750 people gathered at the event at Massachusetts’ Colonial Theatre. It was planned before Biden dropped out of the race, but Harris’s presence appears to have failed to generate any new enthusiasm — at least judging by fundraising figures.

According to WBUR, Democrats raised The fundraiser had a total donation of $1.5 million, with tickets ranging from $100 to $12,000. The event also featured Yo-Yo Ma, James Taylor, and, of course, Harris, Biden’s pick to succeed him in the 2024 presidential election. According to WBUR, Taylor introduced Harris by telling the crowd, “May our enthusiastic support put wind in her sails.”

“Our hopes are with her and she represents all of us. It is my honor, my privilege and my great pleasure to introduce the next President-elect of the United States, Vice President Kamala Harris,” Taylor said.

Meanwhile, Harris spoke of her vision for a future that “promotes both economic growth and economic equity, where everyone has the chance to compete, thrive, and succeed.” Harris did not appear to mention the harsh reality of Biden economics and its impact on Americans across the country. But her remarks are consistent with a long-standing favorite theme of promoting “fairness” over actual equality, which translates to the left promoting socialism. Harris also pushed the notion days before the 2020 election.

Jason Miller, a senior adviser to President Trump, responded to the news of Harris’ fundraising numbers with a stark comparison.

“Yawn. Kamala Harris needs to try harder. @JDVance raised a record $2M at a lunchtime fundraiser in Oklahoma City last Friday!” he exclaimed.

The comparison comes as Trump, Vance and their teams have made clear they pose no threat to Harris, or any other Democrat, running for the Democratic presidential nomination.

“As President Trump has pointed out, Kamala Harris bears all the responsibility for the Biden administration’s bad policies, along with other prominent Democrats, so we see ourselves as fighting the entire Democratic Party establishment,” Vance told Breitbart News on July 22.

“It doesn’t matter who our leader is. We don’t want open borders. We don’t want the inflation and price problems that Joe Biden is causing. We don’t want a foreign policy that leads to war and destruction around the world. We want common sense and prosperity back. That’s what President Trump and I will continue to stand for,” Vance continued.

“I think it’s important that we talk about what we want to do for the American people because it’s clear that Democrats are going to continue to play musical chairs until they find a candidate who can beat us and doesn’t care about the voters. But we’re going to continue to get our message out, and I think the American people will reciprocate,” Vance added.

Democrats are beginning to realize the honeymoon period is over as Harris now has to face up to her record, and rumors are spreading that behind the scenes, Democratic lawmakers are privately voicing concerns about Harris’ candidacy and her ability to beat Trump.
