a Deadly shooting According to multiple reports, the incident occurred early Monday morning near a controversial shelter for undocumented immigrants in New York City.
Authorities said the shootout happened near a shelter on Randall’s Island around 3:30 a.m. Three victims were rushed to a nearby hospital following the attack.
Violence is becoming “normalized” on Randalls Island.
Authorities said a 44-year-old woman was shot in the face and back and pronounced dead, while a 32-year-old man who was shot in the throat and a 31-year-old woman who was shot in the back were reportedly in stable condition.
The NYPD said the investigation is still ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Authorities are searching for at least two male suspects. WABC Television Two suspects fled the scene, one on a moped and the other in a car with New Mexico license plates, according to reports.

The Randalls Island shelter has been a hotbed of violence since it began housing undocumented immigrants, with multiple incidents occurring at or near the facility over the past year.
In February, a video of undocumented immigrants attacking NYPD officers at a shelter went viral on social media. The footage showed a group of officers struggling to handcuff and detain the suspect while a group of undocumented immigrants, mostly adult men, tried to impede the arrest. Some in the violent crowd hurled backpacks and bottles at the suspect as officers eventually subdued him and led him away.
A few months ago, a group of five undocumented men allegedly punched a man while he was eating in his bed. A security guard was also injured while trying to break up the altercation, local police sources said. He told Fox News Digital Attacks are “becoming a daily occurrence” in evacuation centres, he said.
In May, another security guard working at the Randalls Island shelter was punched, scratched and bitten after trying to break up a fight between a couple.
In January, a 24-year-old illegal immigrant was attacked and stabbed to death by a group of men at a shelter on Randalls Island.
Many undocumented people staying at the shelters report that residents are divided into “camps” based on ethnicity, and that “everyone carries a knife.” Some also report that theft is widespread.
At least two of the suspects in the January stabbing are believed to be members of the Venezuelan street gang Tren de Aragua.
