Empty Seats at Paris Olympics Prompt Organizers to Offer Tourists Bargain Basement Prices on Tickets

Rows of empty seats at the Paris Olympics reportedly caused organizers to panic and sell tickets to tourists at bargain prices.

by Daily MailTickets for the Great Britain team’s event are on offer for just £12 (US$15.39).

But it’s not just British events that are eligible for discounts.

As Daily Mail Reports:

Tickets for both the women’s soccer group stage matches between Japan and Nigeria and Australia and the United States at the Stade de France on August 31 were on sale for just 15 euros.

Tickets for the men’s quarter-final at Lyon Stadium on Friday are also on sale at the same price, with seats available for 15 euros if four or more seats are purchased at once.

Basketball matches on August 31 are also cheaper, with tickets for two games between Japan and Germany and Australia and Canada costing just over 19 pounds (24 euros).

In the run-up to the Olympics, Paris’ rail network was hit by a series of arson attacks, causing major delays and widespread traffic disruptions in the French capital and surrounding areas.

By staging a blasphemous performance at the opening ceremony, including a drag-queen parody of “The Last Supper,” Olympic organizers may have given ticket buyers another reason to sit out the Games.

Whatever the reason for the low turnout, organizers are unlikely to be satisfied with the status quo.
