The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Tuesday night that they had killed Hezbollah deputy commander Fuad Shukr “Sayyed Mohsan,” who was also wanted in the 1983 bombing of a US Marine barracks in Beirut.
The Israel Defense Forces statement:
The Israel Defense Forces announced today (Tuesday, July 30, 2024) that in an intelligence-based targeted elimination operation, Israeli Air Force fighter jets eliminated the Hezbollah terrorist organization’s highest-ranking military commander and head of its strategic forces, Fuad Shukr “Sayyed Mohsan,” in the Beirut area. Fuad served as the right-hand man to Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and adviser to Nasrallah on planning and commanding wartime operations.
Fuad Shukr has been leading Hezbollah attacks on Israel since October 8 and is the commander behind the killing of 12 children in Majdal Shams in northern Israel on Saturday night, as well as numerous other Israelis and foreigners over the years.
As head of Hezbollah’s strategic forces, Fouad was in charge of much of Hezbollah’s modern weaponry, including precision-guided missiles, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, long-range rockets and drones. He was responsible for building, planning and executing terrorist attacks against the State of Israel.
Fuad joined the Hezbollah terrorist organization in 1985 and has since held several senior positions. As part of his role, he was also a member of Hezbollah’s highest military forum, the Jihad Council.
In the 1990s, Fouad carried out numerous attacks against the IDF and the South Lebanon Army, and in 2000 was directly involved in the abduction of the bodies of three IDF soldiers (Sergeants Benjamin Abraham, Adi Abitan, and Omar Sawaid) who were killed by Hezbollah terrorists while patrolling the stockade adjacent to Har Dov. Since then, he has planned and orchestrated numerous terrorist attacks against innocent civilians.
The Israel Times Added“He is also wanted by the United States for the 1983 bombing of a US Marine barracks in Beirut and has a $5 million bounty on his head from Washington.”
Breitbart News reported from the scene in Majdal Shams on Tuesday, noting the grief within the community and calls for unity among Israelis of all faiths.
