Trump's nephew declares support for Harris

Fred Trump III, nephew of former President Trump, said Tuesday he plans to go against his family and vote for Vice President Harris.

“I believe in policies over politics, and Kamala Harris’ policies are definitely ones I support,” he said in an interview on “The View.” “So I’m going to be voting for Kamala Harris.”

“And I would have no hesitation in campaigning for her if asked,” he added.

Fred Trump and his sister, Mary, have been vocal critics of their uncle, and in an interview with ABC News early Tuesday, Mary described the former president’s methods as “convoluted and sometimes cruel.”

“And every family, we all know families are complicated. Every family has a crazy uncle,” he told “Good Morning America.” “My uncle Donald is a nuclear nut. And he’s left his mark on our family history.”

Trump was promoting his new book, “All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way,” which features “previously untold stories” about the Trump family and Fred Trump’s complicated relationship with the former president.

Fred Trump claimed that during a visit to the Oval Office, his uncle told him that disabled people were “better off dead,” and that a similar incident occurred during a phone call with Trump in which he told him the family’s medical fund for his disabled son, William, was running out.

“Without hesitation [Trump] “They said, ‘Your son doesn’t recognize you. Let him die and move to Florida,'” Fred Trump said. “And I said, ‘No, Donald. He recognizes me.'”

“Am I surprised? I don’t think anybody wouldn’t be surprised to hear this,” he added. “But that’s the kind of person he has become. It’s sad.”

Trump spokesman Steven Chang denied Fred Trump’s allegations in a statement to The Hill.

“This is a complete fabrication and completely fake news of the highest order,” he said. “It’s outrageous that such a blatant and disgusting lie would be published in the media. Anyone who knows President Trump knows he would never use such language, and this false story has been thoroughly debunked.”

“This is just a cheap way to sell books that should be in the bargain section of the fiction department,” he added.
