Illegal Accused of Carjacking, Killing 54-Year-Old Grandmother

An illegal immigrant is accused of carjacking and killing 54-year-old Melody Waldecker, a mother of four and grandmother of eight, in broad daylight in Loudoun County, Virginia.

21-year-old illegal immigrant Jose Aguilar Martinez was arrested. Charged The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest on suspicion of felony vehicular theft in connection with the death of Melody Waldecker of Montgomery County, Maryland.

On July 28, Waldecker stopped by a 7-Eleven in Sterling, Virginia, around 11:30 a.m. Visit Sick mother.

While walking to the 7-Eleven, Waldecker noticed a man, whom police identified as Aguilar-Martinez, attempting to break into a parked car. When Waldecker tried to stop Aguilar-Martinez, police allege the undocumented immigrant struck and killed Waldecker with his car while fleeing the scene.

When officers arrived on scene, Waldecker was found dead, and Aguilar-Martinez was arrested about 45 minutes later and booked into the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center the following day on felony charges.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Aguilar-Martinez is an illegal immigrant from El Salvador.

Waldecker was a caregiver at a Montgomery County nursing home and loved spending time with her grandchildren, family members told NBC News4 Washington. Waldecker is survived by her four children and eight grandchildren.

Aguilar-Martinez remains in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bail. ICE agents have issued him a detention order, requesting he be held if released at any time. Agents said additional charges may be filed against Aguilar-Martinez.
