A French DJ and LGBTQ activist is taking legal action against online slander over his role in directing “The Last Supper” at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Barbara Bucci’s attorney, Audrey Muserati, said in a statement posted on Bucci’s website: Instagram The DJ and activist who performed “Christ” during the display “had been the target of extremely violent cyber harassment and defamation,” the report said.
In response, Muserati said Bucci had “filed multiple complaints, whether these actions were perpetrated by French nationalists or foreigners.”
“Since the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, artist, DJ and activist Barbara Bucci has been the target of an extremely violent cyber harassment and smear campaign,” Muserati wrote in the letter.

Musserati explained that Bucci had “received threats of death, torture and rape” and had also been “the target of numerous anti-Semitic, homophobic, sexist and grotesque insults.”
“Barbara Bucci condemns this vile hatred directed at herself, what she represents and what she stands for,” the letter continues.
The opening ceremony featured a parody of “The Last Supper,” with Butch standing in the middle, flanked by drag queens and transgender performers.

The incident drew criticism from Olympic organisers.
An Olympics spokesman said in a statement that there was “no intention to show any disrespect to any religious group” and that organisers sought to “celebrate the community’s tolerance”.
Bishop Robert Barron of Minnesota criticized the apology, saying “everyone is tolerated” except for “the 2.6 billion Christians on Earth.”

The Catholic Vote, a conservative nonprofit political advocacy group, also criticized President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their silence about the “Last Supper” parody.
