Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential nominee, said Thursday during a visit to the southern border that the disastrous policies of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have left the U.S. effectively with an open border.
Governor Vance visited the southern border on Thursday, speaking in Cochise County, Arizona, where he slammed the Biden-Harris Administration over the catastrophic situation at the border and the impact it is having on Americans across the country.

“You won’t believe how terrible the Kamala Harris administration’s policy has been when it comes to the southern border until you see it with your own eyes,” Vance began, noting that Biden and Harris promised to open the southern border when they took office and gave examples of what they have done to make that happen.
“They stopped deportations on day one. They stopped construction of the border wall on day one. We see the border wall on the brink of completion and it’s the Kamala Harris administration that’s preventing it from happening,” he said, slamming the administration for reinstating catch-and-release and ending remain-in-Mexico restrictions.
“So every asylum seeker who comes to our border will be released into our country because they will not be forced to stay in Mexico while we review their asylum claims. And no matter how egregious and stupid these policies are, we must remember that they are causing real human suffering,” Vance continued.

The American people are seeing the direct results of Biden and Harris’ policies, he continued.
“The promise President Trump and I make to the American people is very simple. This is not rocket science. Securing our southern border is not hard. We just need to re-implement common sense policies,” Vance said.
“We have to reinstitute remain in Mexico. We have to stop capture and release. We have to force asylum seekers to remain in Mexico while their claims are reviewed. And we have to finish this border wall and reinstitute deportations,” he continued.
“If people can come into this country and know they will never be deported, then the borders are effectively open. That’s what Kamala Harris promised. What Kamala Harris did, Donald Trump and I promised to do the exact opposite,” he said, drawing a sharp contrast between the two men’s vastly different visions for the country’s security.

Vance’s comments came on the heels of a scathing letter to Harris from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, in which he slammed her for failings on the border and demanded meaningful action.
“If VP Harris had taken her job seriously, Jocelyn Nangaray would still be alive and the San Antonio police officer shot by an illegal immigrant last weekend would be unharmed,” Abbott wrote, urging Harris to visit the border.

These developments come amid attempts by established media to cover up and effectively erase the history of Harris, whom some have described as a “border czar.”
