Harris’ top 3 VP hopefuls either cancel or shorten weekend events ahead of big announcement

Several potential running mates for Vice President Kamala Harris are clearing their schedules ahead of the highly anticipated announcement of Harris’ running mate.

Harris’ three finalists for the vice presidential running mate spot – Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg – all changed their schedules ahead of the weekend.

Shapiro was originally scheduled to make three appearances at fundraising events over the weekend in New York’s Hamptons, but a spokesman said those plans were later changed.

“The Governor’s trip was planned several weeks ago and included several fundraisers for his campaign committee,” Manuel Bondar, a spokesman for Gov. Shapiro, told The New York Times. “The Governor’s schedule has changed and he will not be going to the Hamptons this weekend.”
