While phrases like “Keep Austin Weird” have a certain degree of left-wing “coolness,” similar phrases have also been used by President Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, for an entirely different reason.
and Glenn Beck I know the reason.
“J.D. Vance comes from a Republican-leaning state. Weird point No. 1. J.D. Vance grew up in white poverty. Weird point No. 2,” Glenn explains. “He had no white privilege. Weird point No. 3. And he never gave up or listened to the opposition. Weird point No. 4.”
While people on the left often seek handouts over hard work, Vance sees the opposite as true.
“Nobody is going to hold you back except you and your choices, and that’s one of the strangest things about J.D. Vance, because they either totally believe it or they know they’re perpetrating a wicked fraud on the whole world,” Glenn says.
The reason this is a key part of the “J.D. Vance is a weirdo” momentum is because leftist governments want people to depend on it. They don’t want people to believe that the future is in their own hands.
“Who would say that except an abusive partner?” asks Glenn.
Vance not only doesn’t rely on government for help, he creates his own world. He’s an entrepreneur, and nothing is stranger to the left than people with the intellectual and emotional strength to build their own reality.
“These are really motivated people, not just people who want a nine-to-five job. There’s nothing wrong with either,” Glenn said, but added that people who don’t believe they can become Vance are trying to take money from his wallet.
“The left’s sympathies and reliance are on people who can use greed and jealousy to get entrepreneurs and driven people to say, ‘Look, I don’t have the drive or the motivation to do what Elon Musk does,'” Glenn said. “‘I think we should take money from Elon Musk.'”
“They think J.D. Vance is a weirdo because they can’t relate to anything about him. White poverty over white privilege, red states over their blue states, refusing to stand up time and time again and say, ‘Stay down, we need our government, we need help,'” Glenn continued, adding, “They don’t get it.”
