Jonathan Owens is celebrating his wife Simone Biles’ latest Olympic victory.
The Chicago Bears safety took to his Instagram Story on Saturday to pay tribute to the star American gymnast who won the women’s vault final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, earning her third gold medal at the Games and seventh Olympic gold medal overall.
“Reminding me that my wife is the best,” Owens, 29, posted Saturday along with a photo of a smiling Biles, 27, at the AccorHotels Arena.
Biles earned a score of 15.300 on vault, beating out Brazil’s Rebecca Andrade (14.966) and fellow American Jade Carey (14.466).
Saturday’s win brings Biles’ Olympic medal total to 10, the most by any U.S. gymnast.
2024 Paris Olympics
Biles is sweeping the 2024 Olympics with the U.S. team, which also features Carey, Sunitha “Suni” Lee, Jordan Chiles and Hesley Rivera, and won gold in the team all-around on Tuesday.
Owens, who married Biles last spring, had a front row seat to watch Biles win the gold medal in the all-around on Thursday, and the couple exchanged heart gestures inside the AccorHotels Arena.
Biles’ sensational performance in Paris comes three years after she withdrew from competing at the Tokyo Olympics because of “twisties,” a condition in which gymnasts lose their sense of position in the air and can lead to dangerous landings.
Owens, who was first linked to Biles in 2020, supported the 4-foot-8 superstar during that tumultuous time.
“Your strength and courage are unmatched and you inspire me more and more every day, SB.” Owens is In a July 2021 Instagram tribute.
“You will always be my champion, baby. Never forget that. I love you so much and I can’t wait until you come home and see that beautiful smile again. Know that I’ll always be here for you, baby.”
Owens, who signed a two-year contract with the Bears in March and is preparing for her first season in Chicago, will continue to root for Biles, who could potentially add another Olympic medal to her collection in Monday’s balance beam and floor exercise finals.
If Biles wins gold medals in these events, she will have a total of nine Olympic gold medals, tying her with former Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina for the most ever by a gymnast.
