Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on “CBS Sunday Morning” this week that President Joe Biden should be added to Mount Rushmore.
“Tell us what you said to President Biden to convince him to leave office,” host Lesley Stahl asked.
“No, because I have never publicly shared any conversations with the president of the United States,” Pelosi said.
“I understand that you don’t want to acknowledge this, but it has been widely reported that you were a leader of the pressure campaign,” Staal said.
“I was not a leader in any kind of pressure. Let me tell you what I didn’t do: I didn’t call anybody. I didn’t call anybody. I could have always told him I didn’t call anybody. What I would say is, I was confident the president would make the right choice for our country, whatever it was. I said that. Whatever it was, we’ll follow it,” Pelosi said.
She added: “He was in the best position and at the best of times to make any decision. He was truly an influential U.S. president, a Mount Rushmore type of U.S. president.”
Staal asked, “Are you saying he deserves to be on Mount Rushmore? Lincoln and Joe Biden?”
“You have Teddy Roosevelt there, he’s brilliant. I’m not saying take him out, but you can add Biden,” Pelosi said.
