Carville: Harris should accept Fox News debate against Trump

Democratic strategist James Carville said Vice President Harris should be invited by Fox News to debate former President Trump next month.

Carville said on his show Saturday that the former president was “scared to debate women.” PolitikonHe suggested that Harris accept an invitation to debate Trump in New York City on Sept. 18 because that’s the day Trump is scheduled to be sentenced in the Manhattan hush money case.

“I hope someone on the vice presidential campaign is listening. I think we should embrace the Fox debate, I think the debate should take place on the evening of September 18th in New York City, and I think we should be generous to former President Trump,” he said.

“So tell Fox they’d be happy. We’ll be in Manhattan. They have studios there. I’ve been there before and we’ll have a debate on the evening of September 18th on Fox. That’s what we should do,” he added shortly after.

Mediate First, he highlighted Carville’s comments.

Trump said in a Truth Social post on Friday that he had accepted a Fox News debate on Sept. 4 against Harris, but would not attend the ABC News debate he had previously agreed to with President Biden on Sept. 10.

“I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Friday night. “The debate was previously scheduled with Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC but was canceled due to Biden no longer participating and a conflict of interest arising from my ongoing lawsuit against the ABC network and George Slopadopolos.”

Harris campaign communications director Michael Tyler said in a statement that the former president is “seeking relief” from Fox News and has called on Trump to appear at the Sept. 10 debate.

“He needs to stop playing ball and show up to the debate he’s already committed to on Sept. 10. The vice president will be there anyway for his opportunity to speak to a national audience in prime time,” Tyler said.

“I’m open to discussing further debates beyond the ones that both sides have already agreed to. Anytime, Anywhere, Anywhere should have no problem with that, unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th,” he added.
