At the Paris Olympics on Monday, the U.S. team missed out on a medal in the artistic gymnastics final, with Simone Biles missing a chance to reach the podium on the balance beam after a small error.
Biles was a strong contender for gold after several skaters before her also failed, and she needed a high score to beat Italy’s Alice D’Amato, but she was unable to finish her routine as she hoped.
Biles received a score of 13.100 for the competition.
Suni Lee also fell off the balance beam during her performance, but received 13.100 points.
D’Amato won the gold medal, Italy’s Manila Esposito won the bronze medal, and China’s Zhou Yaqin took the silver medal.
