Protests are continuing in the UK following the stabbing of girls attending a dance class in Southport, leaving three dead and many injured.
The grisly attack took place at a children’s dance studio in the seaside town on Monday, July 29th, when a 17-year-old man entered the studio and stabbed the children with a knife, killing three and injuring many more. Witnesses saw children covered in blood running from the attack.
Rumours and speculation quickly circulated on social media as police investigated the horrific incident.
Authorities initially said they had no evidence that terrorism was a motive for the attack, angering many who accused them of suppressing politically incorrect evidence. Police also identified the suspect as originally from Cardiff, and that his parents are Rwandan.
The unrest began on Tuesday when protesters gathered outside a mosque in Southport and shouted anti-immigrant sentiments. Police intervened, leading to skirmishes between police and protesters and several vehicles being set on fire.
There were also rumors that the suspect had entered the country illegally and was on a government terrorism watch list, which law enforcement officials explicitly denied.
Protests and riots erupted across the UK in the days that followed.
