Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) appears to have spent a lot of time mulling over improper ways to keep Democrats in power.
Ahead of the US Supreme Court’s ruling on President Donald Trump’s immunity
United States vs. Donald TrumpRaskin was among the Democrats who campaigned to neutralize the Supreme Court’s conservative justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
Blaze Media senior political editor and Washington correspondent Christopher Bedford suggested at the time that the campaign’s broader aim was “to combat virtually the only check on Democratic political power.”
Raskin, eager to rule in favor of Democratic policies, not only scorned conservative justices but also recommended that the Harris-Biden administration’s Justice Department pressure the Supreme Court to “ask Justices Alito and Thomas to resign as a matter of law, not as a matter of favor.”
While Raskin ultimately failed in his effort to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision, he still appears to have another plan: to deliver victory to Democrats in the 2024 election.

Raskin correctly and reluctantly predicted that the Supreme Court would rule that Trump could not be disqualified from voting in Colorado’s presidential primary. 14th Amendment, Section 3calling the impending decision ” [the court’s] There is a very clear mandate to disqualify Donald Trump.”

Mr Raskin said:[The justices on the Supreme Court] “I want to appeal to Congress so it’s up to us to tell the rampaging Trump mob on January 6th, 2025 that he is unfit to serve.”
According to the Democratic congressman, this reversal of the people’s will “would come at the time of the electoral vote count and could actually lead to something like a civil war.”

“In a civil war situation, everybody needs a bodyguard, because we have nine justices, not all of them, who don’t hear so many cases every year, who don’t have so much work to do, who have such large staffs, such great guards, and yet they’re not willing to do their jobs and interpret the meaning of our great 14th Amendment,” Raskin said after lawmakers disqualified the next presidential candidate.
While removing Trump from the board appears to be Democrats’ short-term plan, Raskin hinted at Democrats’ larger ambitions to revise the Constitution to better suit their tastes.
