In their own words (CEO Art Iris)
Like many conservative businesses, Kingstone was already aware of a larger social disconnect about what it means to be American and a decline in patriotism in our shared history. But after reading the 1619 Project, seeing the American flag taken down as a symbol of hate, and experiencing the shadowbanning of major tech companies, we knew there was a larger effort to disassociate American history from its historical framework, and that there was no longer any shared canon.
After exhibiting at Library of America events and experiencing the far-left leanings of the library world, Kingston realized he needed a new publisher to serve as a face to the general comics and education markets.
Teens read comics and graphic novels. It’s a popular medium, and I think Christians should share the truth with them. Combining text and images also aids in long-term memory. We want young people to not only read, but remember. I’m a pastor and I’m appalled by the ignorance of the Bible in the church and in Western culture at large. The Bible lends itself well to the graphic novel format.
I love to reinvent things. A new boat shouldn’t be a rehashed version of the previous boat. I like being able to take an idea and make something that’s never been done before, or reinvent an existing boat and find a way to make it new and fresh and really excite people. I like to understand what boaters want and then figure out how to produce it and use it in a boat.
