Kaitlyn Thielen reacted to the X news:

“Oh, such awful news. He has ruined Minneapolis,” she wrote.

Walz was governor when riots erupted in Minneapolis after the police killing of George Floyd.

Adam Thielen played for the Minnesota Vikings for nine years before joining the Carolina Panthers for the 2023 season.

He has 637 catches for 7,696 yards and 59 touchdowns in his career and was selected to the Pro Bowl in both 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Harris explained her reasons for choosing Walz.

With Kirk Cousins rehabbing, Falcons rookie Michael Pennis Jr. will be the center of attention in the preseason.

“It’s personal,” she says. “He grew up in a small town in Nebraska and worked on his family’s farm in the summers. When he was 19, his father died of cancer and the family relied on Social Security survivor benefits to make ends meet. He enlisted in the National Guard at 17 and served for 24 years. He used GI Bill benefits to go to college and become a teacher.”

“He served as football coach and adviser to the Gay-Straight Alliance.”

Harris said she wanted to talk about his background because “not only is it impressive in itself, but it really shows how it factors into his track record.”

“He worked with Republicans to pass infrastructure investments. He cut taxes for working families. He passed legislation providing paid family and medical leave for Minnesota families. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, he made Minnesota the first state in the nation to pass a law providing constitutional abortion protections. And as an avid hunter, he passed legislation requiring universal background checks for gun purchases,” she added.

But Harris said “what impresses me most about Tim is his deep commitment to his family” and that she looked forward to building an administration that “reflects our shared values.”
