An earthquake struck northwest of Los Angeles on Tuesday night, shaking a wide swath of Southern California, but there were no immediate reports of damage.
The magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck at 9:09 p.m., with its epicenter near Mettler, an unincorporated area of Kern County, about 85 miles away, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. From downtown Los Angeles.
Officials in Los Angeles and other affected areas were checking for damage to infrastructure.

The quake was felt at Dodger Stadium during the bottom of the seventh inning of a baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies, but there was no noticeable reaction from the crowd.
