Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey fended off a primary challenger on Tuesday night as he fights to serve his first full term, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Bailey was appointed The seat was vacated in 2022 when Gov. Mike Parson (R-Missouri) became attorney general and Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Missouri) won the Senate seat.
With the support of ParsonBailey defeated Trump lawyer Will Scharf and is favored to win the ruby red state seat this fall.
Both candidates are vying for office on Tuesday. Former President Trump’s supportwrote in a Truth Social post that “these two are truly outstanding in every sense of the word,” and that “neither of them ever disappoints.”
The state-level attorney general race saw millions of dollars in outside funding pour in as some groups tried to give members of Trump’s legal team an advantage over the incumbent, despite Bailey’s record of leaning conservative. File a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood Earlier this year.
Bailey will face off against Democrat Elad Gross and Libertarian Party candidate Ryan Munroe this fall.
