Food truck worker threatened to kill woman he accused of theft before lighting her on fire, Niagara Falls police say

Police said the man was arrested for setting the fire. Burning Woman for allegedly stealing from his food truck in Niagara Falls, New York.

Witnesses said they heard an argument between 38-year-old Barinder Singh and a 48-year-old woman at his Indian fusion food truck.

The victim required intubation due to burns.

The police Responded Police were called to the scene around 1:45 p.m. and found a woman with burns to her head, arms and body near the intersection of 7th Avenue and Niagara Street.

The woman was rushed to Erie County Medical Center, where police say she suffered third-degree burns and was in critical condition.

One witness to the altercation said he thought it was a garbage bag on fire until he realized it was actually a woman.

Police said they received permission from Singh to read his phone and were able to obtain security camera footage from before and after the attack, in which he can be heard saying, “I’m going to (expletive) kill you” and “Don’t steal (expletive) from me.”

Police reports say the victim required intubation due to burns to his throat.

On Monday, Singh was taken to a police station for questioning and arrested on suspicion of assault. He was released without bail and a judge issued a protection order against the victim.
