A new report from NPR says Democrats are actually starting to embrace the “Tampon Tim” nickname for Kamala Harris’ running mate Tim Walz, despite the uncomfortable connotations it has.
When Kamala Harris announced that Tim Walz (Democrat) of Minnesota would be her running mate for vice president in 2024, Republicans quickly jumped on board a bill she signed into law that would require tampons to be available in boys’ and girls’ school bathrooms in Minnesota, a nickname the GOP coined because boys don’t menstruate, Breitbart News reported.
Republicans slammed Walz for succumbing to the farcically self-conscious assertion that “not all students who menstruate are girls” — a point made explicitly by Minnesota Rep. Sandra Feist, who sponsored a bill signed by Walz that would require tampon dispensers in boys’ bathrooms at schools.
according to NPR, While the issue of stocking tampons in women’s bathrooms has near-wide support, the bill signed into law by Gov. Tim Walz contained some odd language.
