Ohio Senate candidate Bernie Moreno said in a television appearance Monday that Vice President Kamala Harris being the top contender is a disadvantage for Democrats in the Buckeye State. Breitbart News Daily.
“First of all, we have home-grown candidate J.D. Vance on the list of candidates, so that’s a big difference and a big boost for us,” Moreno told host Mike Slater when asked how having Kamala Harris at the top of the list would impact Ohio politics.

“And remember, Joe from Scranton had some credibility in the Midwest. Just a little. Kamala from San Francisco has none,” Moreno said, explaining that Harris “represents very much the left-wing coastal elites who call us the Rust Belt, who call us the skipped-over rural.”
“We know they look down on us, so she will definitely hurt the Democratic Party,” Moreno said, stressing that Ohioans want nothing to do with San Francisco policies and pointing to Harris’ roots.
“The last thing Ohio wants is to be associated with the liberal policies of San Francisco. She’s the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate and she makes Joe Biden look like a moderate. She’s an absolute extremist. She’s right up there with Bernie Sanders and AOC and the Squad. So it’s the complete opposite of Ohio values. I went to the county fair yesterday with 1,500 campsites. Great community event. Someone like Kamala Harris would look at something like that and turn up her nose and not understand what Ohio values are. So she’s absolutely terrible for the Democratic Party here in Ohio,” Moreno continued, emphasizing that Harris and others like her “…think we’re just stupid and ignorant and don’t know anything and that’s why their policies are the way they are.”
“They think they know how to live better than us. They want to tell us that we can’t have a gas stove, like we can drive an electric car. … Kamala Harris wants to ban red meat. When you tell that to someone in Ohio, they think you’re just crazy,” he said, referring to comments Harris made on the 2020 presidential campaign trail. Harris said she supports changing government dietary guidelines to reduce consumption of “red meat” and more broadly, “banning certain behaviors.”

Ultimately, Harris and Democrats aim to federalize “everything,” Moreno said.
“They will expand government to the point where the private sector is almost squeezed out. We’ve seen this movie before, it’s called Venezuela. I don’t want Venezuela to be like the United States. They will completely destroy American energy. She said she will ban fracking. I’m going to eastern, southeastern Ohio today, talking about banning fracking. It’s basically half the economy in these areas. So it’s a total disaster. She will make internal combustion cars almost unaffordable. She wants all of us to ride scooters to work and to public transportation,” Moreno said, explaining that their end goal is total dependence on government.

“It’s going to be prices like we’ve never seen before, because ultimately, Mike, what they want is for us all to depend on them. They want us all to depend on the federal government. And of course, the only people that are really going to hurt are the working class. In an environment like the one Kamala Harris is proposing, the wealthy are going to do very well,” he added.
