More than 6,000 noncitizens removed from Virginia voter rolls

A new executive order from Virginia’s Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin outlined steps state leaders have taken to bolster confidence in the electoral process, including removing tens of thousands of foreign and deceased voters from voter rolls.

On Wednesday, Youngkin Executive Order 35The order aims to “protect lawful voting by voters who are legally eligible to vote in Virginia’s elections.” The order lists some voting restrictions in Virginia that people in other states would likely like to see.

  • 100% paper ballots,
  • Strict storage and management of all ballots in addition to daily collation during the early voting period.
  • “Bulk mailing of ballots is prohibited” – Application for mail-in ballot required;
  • All dropboxes are monitored 24/7,
  • There are no “voting machines,” just machines designed to count ballots.
  • Connecting computers to the Internet is strictly prohibited.

Additionally, the executive order outlined recent efforts to clean up voter rolls by conducting audits and tracking voters who have moved out of state or died. In 2023 alone, approximately 80,000 deceased voters were removed from the state’s voter rolls.

“All states should follow Virginia’s example.”

Perhaps more significantly, the order asserted, 6,303 living aliens who were “knowingly or accidentally registered to vote” in Virginia were similarly removed.

plus, Virginia DMVThe state uses the Department of Homeland Security’s Systematic Verification of Alien Entitlements System and the Social Security Administration’s database to verify an individual’s legal status before issuing credentials such as a driver’s license, and Virginia is one of only three states that require residents to provide their full nine-digit Social Security number to register to vote.

In Virginia, even mail-in ballots will not be counted unless the voter information on the outside of the ballot (the last four digits of the voter’s Social Security number and date of birth) matches the voter data registered in the state’s voter registration system, greatly reducing the chances of other foreigners voting through the gaps.

Finally, the Executive Order requires the Virginia Chief of Elections to submit an annual report to the Governor certifying that all procedures regarding ballot security, testing of tabulating machines, and “triple checking” the accuracy of all election results were followed.

Youngkin is certainly proud of the order and his state, arguing that Virginia has taken a leadership role in ballot security, the reliability of tabulating machines and “maintaining voter rolls.”

“This isn’t about Democrats or Republicans, it’s about America and Virginia. Every legal vote should be counted, not tainted by illegal votes or inaccurate machines. In Virginia, we don’t play games, and our model for election security works.” Youngkin says.

“The Virginia model of election security is working.”

former President Donald TrumpHe is hoping to win Virginia’s 13 electoral votes in November and similarly praised Youngkin’s executive order and commitment to election integrity.

“Under the brilliant leadership of Governor Glenn Youngkin, the beautiful state of Virginia is showing great leadership in ensuring a secure November election. We will protect every legal vote and stop illegal immigrants who are allowed into the country from voting. Every vote will be on a paper ballot that will be counted securely and fairly. They will not be counted on machines connected to the internet, which is a huge security risk. We must work hard to ensure our elections are fair and secure!!! Every state should follow Virginia’s example. We need volunteers to monitor polling places. It’s so important. The November 5th election will be the most important election in the history of our nation. Thank you Glenn for a great job!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday night.
