A Mississippi lawyer appeared manic and wet in a mugshot after being arrested on suspicion of smuggling contraband into a prison.
Daniel Sidney Dale allegedly posed as an attorney for Hinds County detainees and smuggled in cellphones and other illegal items. According to the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office.
Dale was arrested Thursday while visiting an inmate and found to be in possession of a briefcase filled with marijuana, tobacco products, a weighing scale and two cellphones with chargers, according to photos released by the sheriff’s office.
“Attorney Dale, in a position of trust responsible for the constitutional rights of arrested suspects, endangered the safety and integrity of the Hinds County Detention Center and the public,” Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said in a statement.
Dale was detained, questioned, and then arrested.
In his arrest mugshot, the lawyer appeared soaking wet in a grey suit and loose tie, with his eyes bulging out from under his hair.
Dale is charged with three counts of introducing contraband into a prison and two counts of conspiracy.
Jones said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests may be forthcoming.
