CeeDee Lamb wasn’t too pleased with comments Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made Thursday about the ongoing contract impasse between the two sides.
Lamb, 25, is due to enter the fifth-year option period on his rookie contract after being named All-Pro in 2023 and is seeking a new contract, but the Dallas coach told reporters there’s “no rush to get a deal done.”
Jones’ words Article posted by The Athletic reporter on X And Ram quickly posted a quote. With a simple “lol” He has since reportedly removed references to the Cowboys from his social media profiles, replacing them with “The Eight.”
Lamb’s post was also reposted by Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons, who seemed to have a different take on Dak Prescott than Jones.
“I know you guys want to hear it, and I’m really hoping that happens,” Prescott said. Cowboys team reporter Nick HarrisHe made the remarks at the end of a press conference on Thursday.
Lamb is currently looking to sign a new contract during his training camp holdout, with his desired salary reportedly being $30 million per season.
The latest attacks appear to indicate that negotiations have stalled. Cowboys executive Stephen Jones told NFL Network. Just a few weeks ago they sent me a proposal for a new contract and said negotiations were going well.
The Cowboys picked up the fifth-year option on Lamb’s rookie contract before the 2023 season, which worked in Dallas’ favor.
Lamb had a career season, leading the NFL in catches (135) and throwing for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Lamb is set to make $17.9 million for the 2024 season.
The Cowboys are scheduled to open their preseason on Sunday against the Rams.
