Tom Cruise’s costar nearly broke his nose during a love scene, but says he was ‘a gentleman’

Gina Gershon has praised Tom Cruise for being a “gentleman” during their first on-screen love scene.

During the episode “Let’s see what happens live.” Gershon, who is currently promoting “Borderlands” with Cate Blanchett, detailed her sex scene with Cruise in the 1988 film “Cocktail,” and explained why he “protected” her despite nearly breaking his nose during the shoot.

“He’d just gotten married,” Gershon said of the “Top Gun” actor, who was married to Mimi Rogers at the time, “but we kissed as much as we could. Every scene was like, ‘Should we kiss in this scene?’ ‘Oh yeah, I think we should kiss.’ It was my first love scene.”

“And he took care of you?” Cohen asked.

“He was a gentleman,” Gershon said. “It started under the duvet, and I told him I was really ticklish, and I said, ‘No, no, don’t do that.’ In one take, he seemed to want a reaction, so he grabbed me by the stomach, and I hit him in the nose with my knee. I was like, ‘Oh my God! I just broke Tom Cruise’s nose.’ He said, ‘No, you told me to do it. It’s my fault.’ He was very protective of me.”

“He was overprotective of me. He was amazing,” Gershon added.

“In one take, I think he wanted to react, and he grabbed me by the stomach, and I kneed him in the nose. I was like, ‘Oh my God! I just broke Tom Cruise’s nose.'”

In stark contrast to Garson’s anecdote, Rob Lowe, The actor, who co-starred with Cruise in the 1983 film “The Outsider,” recently detailed the moment the “hyped-up” Cruise “totally” knocked him out during a fight scene.

Lowe and Cruise first met in 1980 when they were teenagers and the “Mission: Impossible” star was living with Emilio Estevez. According to Lowe, the 18-year-old actor had just finished filming “Taps.”

He said that there are many scenes that he “likes” about Cruise. “The Outsiders” I was always with him.

“He was so competitive that he used to box in the hallways of the hotel where he was staying while ‘The Outsiders’ was on,” Rowe said.The Rich Eisen Show.“It’s a lot of testosterone. We’re 18-year-olds stuck on location, so we’ve got head gear on, we’ve got mouthpieces on, but we’re still sparring.”

In one boxing match, Cruz “completely” knocked Rowe out.

“I remember Tom was all muscle and I had arms like pipe cleaners,” the actor recalls.

“But I hit him clean, the bell rang, and the next thing I know I’m on the floor, regaining consciousness,” Rowe added, “and then he knocks me clean out.”

“He got a black eye, but that’s the way we did it. That’s what guys do. It’s like Fight Club.”
