With less than three months to go until the election and after a tumultuous primary campaign, the candidates have been announced: Vice President Harris will face off against former President Trump in November;
Democrats have been largely anchored in their support for the vice president since President Biden decided to step down last month, making it hard to believe that Harris, with her record fundraising numbers, endorsements from key figures and sold-out rallies, entered the fray just a few weeks ago.
Now, Democrats have officially nominated Harris as their top contender along with running mate Tim Walz, the Minnesota governor who announced he was joining Harris’ team earlier this week. Walz will compete for the No. 2 spot in the White House against Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), Trump’s running mate.
In this special election edition, The Switch Up hosted campaign reporter Caroline Vakil to take a closer look at both Harris and Waltz and the obstacles they will face on the road to November.
