Call it Reaganomics or Trickle-Down Economics, but no matter how you look at it, Democrats only believe in lowering taxes and eliminating government to appease Left Hollywood.
Across the country, Democratic mayors and governors are proving they believe in Reaganomics by giving tax breaks to film and television productions. Why? For the exact same reason that former President Reagan explained: If you cut corporate taxes, it benefits workers.
That’s why it’s always so funny to see movies and TV shows denigrate the Reagan era, because it’s the very industry that’s screaming about tax cuts for the wealthy, the same thing they’re mocking and wanting to deny to everyone else.
Now, in an effort to compete with all the cities offering tax incentives to lure Hollywood away from the big screen, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has announced that she intends to compete by cutting government red tape. Reagan style.
summary Report:
The new directive requires relevant city departments to appoint task force staff, or “film liaisons,” to coordinate more efficient local production and permitting processes and hold “quarterly meetings to discuss production-related challenges and solutions directly with departments.”
“The entertainment industry is central to our economy and to our city’s identity, and City Hall will do everything in its power to support this industry,” Mayor Bass said in a statement. “This executive order renews the City’s support for the entertainment industry and is my pledge that we expect the highest level of customer service to ensure stability in Hollywood.”
…
“We know that other markets have become more competitive, whether through expanded or enhanced tax incentives or simply strengthening their local infrastructure and workforce,” Deputy Mayor Rachel Freeman noted. “It’s really important that the City of Los Angeles and my office provide leadership here to keep our signature industries local, keep the jobs local, keep the manufacturing local.”
Ask yourself this question: If tax breaks, cutting red tape, and ensuring that government works with Hollywood instead of against it helps create and preserve jobs, why not adopt that approach for all California businesses? Why is it that only Reagan-hating Hollywood benefits from Reaganomics and no one else?
I get that Hollywood can make a left-wing radical like Bass act like Ronald Reagan for the entertainment industry. After all, they’re pouring millions of dollars into her campaign coffers. They’re entertaining her and glamorizing her. What pisses me off is how Hollywood makes conservative policies strange to the rest of us by portraying them as failures and evil in their movies and TV shows.
What vile people they are.
