Texas Governor Greg Abbott (Republican) opposes the Biden administration’s open border policy and is requiring hospitals in his state to ask about the immigration status of patients.
Prime Minister Abbott signed the executive order on Thursday. Need Hospitals will begin recording that information by Nov. 1, ABC13 reported.
Additionally, “hospitals will also have to track how much they spend treating illegal immigrants,” the media reported.

Abbott made the announcement Thursday. Share In a news post on social media, he explained how he is battling the crisis at the border.
“Texans should not have to pay for the medical costs of illegal immigrants. I have issued an executive order directing the Department of Health and Human Services to collect and report the medical costs of illegal immigrants. We will fight to make the Biden-Harris Administration pay the price for Texas’ costly open border policies,” he wrote.

The ABC 13 article states that it’s important to note that patients will not be denied treatment because of their immigration status.
“Abbott argues that because the state pays for the treatment through Medicaid funds, it has the right to try to recover costs from the federal government,” the outlet reported.

In June, Breitbart News reported that more than 170,000 illegal immigrants attempted to cross the US-Mexico border in May as a result of President Joe Biden’s (Democrat) open border policy.
Although Biden has touted a “closed” border, a Breitbart News report published June 4 said several loopholes remain that allow large-scale economic migration into the country.
The media noted that Trump’s policy would allow a wave of 75,000 illegal immigrants per month, “The planned influx of illegal immigrants amounts to roughly one illegal immigrant for every four American births, and is on top of the roughly 1 million legal immigrants and 750,000 temporary workers allowed by Congress’ 1990 law.”
In his recent speech at the Republican National Convention, Governor Abbott said Biden’s border crisis is having a devastating impact on Texas and the rest of the country, according to Breitbart News.
“Biden abdicated on his first day in office, watered down President Trump’s policies with disastrous results,” he said.
