‘SEAL Team’ star David Boreanaz had 4 MRIs in 4 months while filming military series: ‘No shortcuts’

David Boreanaz “took no shortcuts” while filming Season 7 of “SEAL Team” and underwent four MRI scans over a four-month period.

Boreanaz has starred in the military series as Jason Hayes since 2017. The upcoming season will be his last on the show.

“My body just can’t take it anymore!” the 55-year-old actor said. people magazine.

The cast of “SEAL Team” worked hard to keep the show authentic. Boreanaz trained and filmed intense scenes for the hit drama. “There were no shortcuts,” he acknowledged.

For one scene, Boreanaz had to carry a 250-pound stuntman on his back.

“I hit a rock at 10 feet, twisted my ankle and fell to the ground,” the actor recalled to the outlet. “My ankle was swollen, but I had to keep going. I learned how to push through pain from the SEALs. I saw guys with their arms blown off and they joked about it as a way of dealing with it. It was pretty nerve-wracking.”

“I try to take care of my health, but my body just doesn’t move the way it used to. I’ve had four MRIs in the last four months – my knee, my hip and my shoulder,” she explained. “It’s been a tough journey.”

The TV star said Navy SEALs had thanked him for the show’s “realistic portrayal” of elite military personnel.

“My attitude towards work is always to stay positive, focus on the present, not look back and don’t think about the future.”

Boreanaz will not be returning to “SEAL Team,” but he does have future projects lined up.

“I have a plan,” Boreanaz hinted. “My attitude towards work is always to stay positive, stay in the present, not look back, not think ahead.”

The actor, who has been working nonstop since the ’90s, is taking a break. Boreanaz appeared in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff Angel, before playing Seeley Booth on Bones from 2005 to 2017, before landing a role in Seal Team.

“The vacation is fine for about the second day, then I’m busy figuring out what to do next,” Boreanaz said, explaining that he plans to hang out with his two children, Jaden, 22, and Bella, 15.

“My mind is always active. Work is relaxing and fulfilling for me.”
