Walz Accepted Praise from Pelosi for Serving ‘on the Battlefield’

The embattled Democratic vice presidential candidate, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, was praised for his “battlefield” service in 2007 by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), despite never having served in combat.

In the video clip, resurfaced Friday by the Free Beacon’s Chuck Ross, Pelosi can be heard saying, “We’re all grateful for his service on the battlefield.”

Walz, who is currently facing numerous allegations that he lied about his military rank and service history, responded to the speaker, “Thank you.”

Until 2018, Waltz claimed to be a “retired master sergeant,” when in fact he was a retired sergeant one rank lower.

He also claims to have carried a weapon “during the war” although he admits he never took part in combat.

He also claims to be an Operation Enduring Freedom veteran, even though he never served in Afghanistan.

Fellow veterans who know him have also accused him of retiring to avoid serving in Iraq, a charge his supporters dispute.

He filed to run for Congress in February 2005, acknowledged in March 2005 that he would likely be deployed to Iraq, and vowed to go if called upon.

However, he retired in May 2005, relinquishing the rank of sergeant because at that time he had not completed the training and requirements to retire as a sergeant.

Despite this, he has since claimed to be a retired “master sergeant” on multiple occasions.

The Harris-Waltz campaign has not directly addressed Waltz’s false claims and allegations, instead blaming Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), a Marine veteran and Republican presidential candidate, for bringing them.
