Australian breakdancer ‘Raygun’ goes viral at Olympics

Breakdancer Rachel “Raegun” Gunn made a splash at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday.

Despite not receiving a single vote from the judges and losing both group competitions, the 36-year-old university professor made waves with his quirky breaking performance.

Leighan bounded around the stage, standing on her head and rolling on her shoulders in one of the most memorable or successful performances of the Summer Olympics, which quickly became an internet sensation.

“My speciality is style and creativity, not dynamism or power moves like a lot of other dancers,” Raegan told the outlet. “I checked off most of those boxes because that’s what I’m good at. I don’t know if it’s going to be appreciated as much as the other criteria, but I hope people are surprised by what I bring to the table because it’s different.”

Reagan became an internet meme and received negative reviews from Olympic judges, but that didn’t put her off.

“I went into this event knowing that I wouldn’t have the right to vote.” Gunn spoke to Yahoo Sports after the event..

“It was amazing. It was such an amazing experience. What an amazing stage, what an amazing arena, what an amazing audience. The music was amazing too. Oh man, I’m so, so grateful for this opportunity.”
