If first impressions are to be believed, this could be the start of something special for Bo Nix.
The 12th overall pick by the Denver Broncos appeared in Sunday’s preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts and helped his team score on four of the five attempts he took part in.
The former Oregon Ducks player completed 15 of 21 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown, which came on a short pass to Marvin Mims Jr. with 4:51 left in the second quarter.
The Oregon product entered the game late in the first quarter, replacing starter Jarrett Stidham with 3:11 left in the first quarter.
“Overall, it felt good to go out there and make some passes … just go out there and compete,” Nix said. According to ESPN:.
The rookie quarterback led the Broncos 45 yards on 11 plays on his first drive, including a fumbled snap and a 22-yard pass to Courtland Sutton.
The touchdown pass to Mims came on the Knicks’ second drive, when he advanced 56 yards down the field.
The performance certainly sparked rumors that Knicks might be in the running for the starting spot in the Mile High City.
After the win over Indy, head coach Sean Payton praised all three quarterbacks, including former Jets guard Zach Wilson, who played in the game.
“All three of them did a great job,” Payton said. “You get a little more information in certain settings. … We’re going to look at all three of those guys a little more in-depth, not just the quarterback.”

Nix also showed off his mobility by rushing for 17 yards during the game.
“It’s a good thing to train for and a nice thing to have,” Nix said of his mobility.
Payton previously told reporters that Nicks will start next Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
