Ann Coulter calls Trump an 'awful, awful person' but says she'll vote for him

Ann Coulter said she thinks former President Trump is a “horrible, horrible person,” but that she will vote for him in November’s presidential election because she chose Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as her running mate.

The conservative media commentator has largely not supported Trump in the 2024 primaries and has urged voters to vote for his rivals, but he told C-SPAN’s “The Washington Journal” on Sunday that he would still vote for Trump.

“Donald Trump, because if he loses he will be re-elected in four years and that will mean we will have lost four elections in a row,” she said when asked who she would vote for.

“Honestly, I’m really glad I chose J.D. Vance, who I recommended in May,” she continued. “While I can’t fully trust Trump, I trust J.D. Vance because he cares about people who are left behind.”

Coulter previously wrote a pro-Trump book in 2016 called “In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!” but said Sunday that she believes the former president has strayed far from what the book praises.

“I want Republican politicians to read this. I’ve given it to some of my favorite Republicans,” she said. “I think the 2016 Trump campaign was one of the greatest campaigns in the history of the world because it really transformed the Republican Party into the party that I like.”

“So I was happy when Trump publicly said, ‘I’m rich and I’m going to fix this country,'” she continued. “But the main reason — and I’ve made it very clear, by the way, if you read the book, you’ll see — that I personally think Trump is a terrible, terrible person. I’m making an exception in this case: because we need a border wall.”
