Malik Neighbors did not practice with the Giants on Monday but is day-to-day and has not been ruled out as missing Saturday’s preseason game against the Texans.
The initial diagnosis of a mild ankle sprain remains the same.
Neighbors collapsed during practice Sunday, removed his left shoe while being evaluated by trainers and limped back to the locker room for the final 20 minutes of practice.
Coach Brian Daboll likely won’t take any special precautions by holding Neighbors back from practice if he is cleared to return, believing the increased time on the field will ease the learning curve for the dynamic rookie receiver.
“We’re still evaluating him, but he’s a little sore today so he’ll be out,” Daboll said Monday.
Daboll effectively ruled out the worst-case scenario of a broken leg, saying Neighbours had “sprained” it while running but had not been stepped on.
