Democrats seem to be gleeful that for 22 straight days since Vice President Kamala Harris entered the presidential race, the mainstream media has been unable to secure a single unscripted interview with her.
While the media typically rushes to interview newly nominated presidential candidates, Harris appears to be an exception.
The media Interviewed Harris has not appeared on television since June 24, 2024. Her last television appearance was reportedly in Asked Her last solo press conference was eight months ago, on December 2, 2023.
Very little Reports on monday Recount Harris has had very few unscripted interviews and none of the headlines publicly criticizing her for not granting prime-time interviews after receiving the nomination.
Democrats have openly admitted they’re pleased the media has shown little interest in interviewing Harris about her policy positions.
“But most Democratic insiders we spoke to are perfectly fine with keeping things vague,” Politico Playbook said. Reported “The impression is that Harris should continue to ride the wave of enthusiasm rather than offer concrete substance and change the debate.”
“Hard questions are risky” Hills Amy Parnes Claimed“Since becoming the Democratic front-runner after Biden dropped out of the race, Harris has closed the gap on Trump in the polls and is even leading in some surveys.”
Democrats told media that not interviewing Harris about policy was a favor to her.
“Why start discussing policy?” Democrat asked Playbook. “It’s actually better to ride this wave of enthusiasm and energy. … That’s the best thing you can do.” [Harris] “Yes, I can.”
“Values unite and certain policies divide,” a senior Democratic aide told the outlet, “so I don’t think we’re going to spend the next 80 days litigating, for example, Medicare for All.”
“Where does it say you have to sit at a press conference?” Democratic political commentator James Carville asked“They had to pick a vice president, plan a convention, move around, do all that stuff, and she’s already agreed to the debates.”
Harris promised last week that only one interview would be scheduled “by the end of this month,” but it’s unclear whether the interview will take place in the last three weeks of August or before the end of the month.
Harris may not like unscripted events for two reasons: First, she has a penchant for rambling nonsense, and second, she seems to be navigating intraparty policy debates, with anonymous campaign staffers reportedly changing their tune on five of her far-left policies.
