Texas authorities found drugs stuffed inside a stuffed toy of the state’s beloved and iconic mascot during a routine traffic stop.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that deputies were searching the vehicle just after 1 a.m. on July 31 when they found marijuana and ecstasy inside Buckie’s stuffed beaver toy.
Authorities say the driver gave deputies consent to searching the vehicle.
During the search, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and found a stuffed Bakui in the back seat, authorities said.

When they searched the toy, they found a package inside and found the stuffed toy had been resewn, and inside the stuffed beaver were packages of marijuana and ecstasy, authorities said.
Authorities say the marijuana weighed more than two pounds.

In Texas, possession of between four ounces and five pounds of marijuana is a felony punishable by 180 days to two years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

After the drugs were discovered, the driver, identified as Lugene Davis Jr., 47, of San Antonio, claimed he was suffering from chest pains.

Authorities said emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and transported Davis to a local hospital for treatment.
The marijuana and ecstasy were seized and an arrest warrant was issued for Davis.
