A former inmate who robbed “Bling Bishop” Lamore Whitehead will spend less time in prison than the con man pastor he pointed a gun at during a livestreamed sermon.
Saquan Pollack, 25, was sentenced to seven years in prison during a hearing in Brooklyn federal court on Monday.
Pollack pleaded guilty to taking $400,000 from Whitehead and the pastor’s wife during a church service in July 2022. The robbery was caught on camera and was shocking.
“Pollack is being held accountable for brazenly robbing a house of worship, threatening men, women and children attending a Sunday morning service with a gun,” Breon Peace, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said in a statement.
In June, Whitehead was sentenced to nine years in prison in an unrelated fraud case.
Whitehead, who described Mayor Eric Adams as a friend and mentor, was convicted of fraud, extortion and other charges at a March trial for defrauding the elderly mother of a parishioner out of $90,000 for luxury items.
Pollack’s attorney, Gary Villanueva, tried to argue that the robber should receive a lighter sentence because of Whitehead’s crimes, but Judge William Kunz ultimately imposed the 87-month prison sentence requested by prosecutors.
