The UK has reinstated COVID-era measures to censor law-abiding citizens, including threatening them with jail if they don’t comply.
A 55-year-old woman has been arrested after a post contained inaccurate information about the identity of a suspect in the murders of three young girls in Southport.
Peter Gietle, editor-in-chief of Blaze Media’s The Return, is horrified.
“This story infuriated me. I used to live in London. I really love Britain,” he told Blaze News Tonight’s Jill Savage and Matthew Peterson. “Basically what we’re seeing is that it didn’t take long for the new Labour government to find an excuse to introduce draconian measures against dissent and freedom of speech.”
“I’m really worried about what’s going to happen,” he continued, adding, “It’s all happening so quickly.”
And the Crown Prosecution Service could not have made it clearer just how alarming this is.
The video posted to social media included a statement saying, “You may be prosecuted for posting content online that incites violence or hate, and you may also be prosecuted for sharing this content. There may be consequences for your behavior online.”
“These images you’re seeing on your screens are published by the government and they’re Orwellian,” Peterson commented, pointing out that another gov.uk post said: “Please think before you post”.
“Well, Matt, let’s not forget that Winston Smith’s ‘1984’ took place in Britain, so there was always a fascist tendency there,” Guitar says.
