Yankees’ Jazz Chisholm likely headed to injured list

Jazz Chisholm faces a possible trip to injured reserve.

The Yankees infielder will likely be placed on the disabled list with a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), which he sustained during Tuesday’s blowout loss to the White Sox, manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Wednesday.

The team is currently working to determine the severity of the injury and whether surgery will be required. Brian Hoch of MLB.com reports:.

The 26-year-old Chisholm slid headfirst into home plate to score a run in the fifth inning against the White Sox but left the game two innings later with an injured left elbow.

The infielder said he wasn’t initially concerned about the injury and that initial tests came out “pretty good.”

Since being acquired from the Marlins in a trade deadline deal, Chisholm has been a tremendous addition to the Yankees’ lineup, batting .316/.361/.702 with seven home runs.
