Texas dad allegedly fed 4-month-old infant gasoline in attempt to kill baby: police

A Paris, Texas, father has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly dousing his young child with gasoline, police said.

Paris police told Fox News Digital that 24-year-old Edgar James Bridgmon has also been charged with evading arrest.

On Saturday, officers responded to the 1300 block of Pine Bluff Street to assist Paris Emergency Services.

Police found that Bridgmon allegedly gave the 4-month-old baby gasoline.

After officers learned who the father was, they saw Bridgmon flee on foot, and after a short pursuit he was taken into custody.

Police said Bridgmon admitted to dousing the toddler with gasoline with the intent to kill him.

He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and subsequently jailed.

A judge set Bridgmon’s bail at $255,000: $250,000 for the attempted murder charge and $5,000 for the evading arrest charge.

Paramedics took the child to Paris Regional Medical Center, then transferred him to another hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
