ESPN College Game Day Host Kirk Herbstreit says he’s no longer worried about people criticizing him for saying men shouldn’t participate in women’s sports.
During a visit to Outkick Dan Dakich and “Don’t @ Me!”Sports presenter John F. Kennedy said that after years of remaining silent on the subject, he now “doesn’t care what the critics have to say.”
“But I didn’t care. I really don’t care at all. I mean, I don’t care about anything anymore.” said She spoke about the attacks she received on social media after speaking out against transgender athletes in women’s sports.
“It’s like there’s two different rules, and if you’re a little bit more traditionally minded, I’m a Christian, there’s like a different set of rules to that mindset, and it’s hard to just turn the other cheek over and over again. I couldn’t care less,” he continued.
“So, yeah, I really didn’t care and I still don’t care at all, which is good,” he continued. “I think it’s good and healthy to be in that state, rather than like, ‘Oh, I don’t want to get canceled. I don’t want to upset people.’ I don’t care. I just say certain things.”
He sparked controversy by saying it was a “stupid question” to ask whether men should participate in women’s sports.
Of course not. That’s a stupid question. https://t.co/SpwZ07zewv

But he added that he had been silent on the issue for a long time already.
“For three years I’ve kept quiet about a lot of topics,” he told Outkick. “I just thought I’d respond quickly and say, ‘That’s a stupid question, of course not.’ I didn’t think about it, I didn’t give a lengthy answer, and that was it. I didn’t see it as being more positive than negative.”
Herbstreit acknowledged that her comments may cause backlash from some, saying: “I’m sure people are upset about it, and rightly so. I don’t have daughters, but I have four sons. If I had daughters I would be much more outspoken in discussing this issue.”
“I’ve tried to sit out a lot of it up until now, but there’s only so much I can tolerate until I want to speak up a little bit and actually say what I think. When I retire I’ll be able to say what I think a lot more,” he argued.
This question has become more relevant than ever after two boxers who tested positive for male XY chromosomes were allowed to compete as women in the Paris Olympic Games and, as expected, beat all natural women to win top honors at the 2024 Games.
