Imam Asad Zaman issued a statement about X after the Washington Examiner reported on his history of sharing pro-Adolf Hitler links on social media and his multiple appearances with vice presidential candidate Tim Walz (Democrat).
Examiner’s report Revealed Zaman, executive director of the Minnesota Muslim American Association, met Walz at an event while he was governor. Zaman not only promoted a film glorifying Adolf Hitler, popular among neo-Nazis, but also praised the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel on October 7, 2023. Walz said he does not have a personal relationship with Zaman, but described him as a “master teacher” who taught him during their time together.
“Whenever the MAGA camp and its allies are struggling, they are looking for ways to divide and distract people.”
“I’m a teacher, so I know a good teacher when I see one, and one of the things I was blessed to have during our time together was to see and try to understand things in life through the eyes of a good teacher,” Waltz said of Zaman.
In a statement, Zaman claimed he was being attacked by the “MAGA camp” because he is a Muslim leader.
“Whenever the MAGA camp and its allies are struggling, they look for a way to scapegoat a local Muslim to divide and distract people, and today it appears they have chosen me,” Zaman wrote. “Unfortunately, a morass of right-wing blogs is trying to use me to smear Governor Tim Walz. My ‘crime’ is that I am a Muslim and have publicly voiced solidarity with the Palestinian people.”
Zaman did not comment or dispute the contents of the examiner’s report. Zaman is originally from Bangladesh.
“Here in Minnesota, we have learned to reject these hateful politics and are working to make Minnesota the best state for people of all faiths – Muslim, Jew, Christian – to raise their families. That is the future I and Minnesota’s Muslim community envision. And based on my faith, my sense of justice and my commitment to the dignity of all people, I will also continue to work hard on behalf of the Palestinian people, my family and loved ones,” Imam added.
Waltz too Reportedly Federal prosecutors have described Zaman’s Muslim American Association as “established as an open arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States” and that the administration diverted more than $100,000 in funds to Zaman’s Muslim American Association.
