Sheehy Opens up 6-Point Lead over Democrat Senator Tester in Montana

Montana Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy has built a 6-point lead over Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.), according to the poll, which shows voters trust Sheehy more on key issues.

American Pulse Poll carried out According to a Nonstop Local poll, Sheehy has a clear lead over Tester in Montana’s U.S. Senate race, with 51 percent of registered voters backing him. Tester has the support of 45 percent of 538 registered voters. Four percent of respondents are undecided.

The poll was conducted from Saturday to Monday (August 10-12), just days after Trump held a rally in Bozeman, Montana, on Friday, where Sheehy appeared and spoke alongside Trump.

In terms of major issues, 28% cited “inflation, the economy, [and] “Jobs” is the top issue heading into the election, with housing affordability coming in second at 15 percent and immigration and the border at 14 percent.

Voters trust Sheehy on immigration and the economy: he leads by 17 percentage points on immigration, 9 percentage points on the economy and 2 percentage points on abortion.

Voters believe their values ​​are more in line with Sheehy’s by nearly 7 percentage points and that Sheehy is a “better leader for Montana” than Tester by 6 percentage points.

“With plenty of time left until Election Day, Montana appears to be on the brink of a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate,” Dustin Olson, president of American Pulse Research & Polling, said in a statement.

“This outcome likely occurred because Montanans chose ‘economy and inflation’ as their No. 1 issue and trust Tim Sheehy to handle it better than Sen. Jon Tester,” he added.

The poll also gauged the intensity of the presidential race in Montana, showing Mr. Trump leading Vice President Kamala Harris by 14 points. Mr. Trump received the support of 52% of respondents to Ms. Harris’ 38%. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. followed with 6%, and no other candidate received more than 5 percentage points.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.2 percentage points.
