Trump shares promises for Affordable Care Act, Social Security, Medicare

(The Center Square) Former President Donald Trump laid out his economic agenda and vision for the country at a rally in North Carolina on Wednesday, promising to keep the Affordable Care Act, Social Security and Medicare intact.

“A lot of people are very shocked by the state of inflation,” Trump said in Asheville. “I showed Harris and Biden an economic miracle, and they quickly turned it into an economic nightmare.”

Speaking to a crowd of several thousand people who had been gathering the day before, Trump remained optimistic about the November election, which is 83 days away.

“We’re going to defeat Kamala Harris, take back the White House in a historic landslide victory and take our country back,” Trump said.

He added that his political movement is “the largest political movement in the history of our country.”

Thousands of people flooded Asheville, one of North Carolina’s more liberal cities, to wait outside.

Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for claiming she would bring about big change if elected president, despite the fact that she has been in office for the past three and a half years.

“Kamala Harris would not end the economic crisis, she would only make it worse. Why not?,” he said. “You don’t have to imagine what it would be like with Harris as president. We’re living through that disaster right now, and it’s only going to get worse.”

President Trump spoke of his “no tip tax” and “no Social Security tax” plans, and criticized Governor Harris, who is in the state on Friday, for following in President Trump’s footsteps by announcing a similar no tip tax plan.

“To help seniors on fixed incomes struggling with the effects of inflation, I will end Social Security taxes,” Trump said. “With this vote, we will end this injustice.”

Reducing health care costs is also included in his economic policies.

Trump has promised to return the country to an “economic boom” if re-elected.

“Starting from the day I’m sworn in, I will rapidly lower prices and make America affordable again,” Trump said. “Harris’ price increase has cost the average family $28,000.”

Harris said that under Biden, the average family would lose $28,000 due to rising prices. Reuters

President Trump also defended the need for American energy independence, as he outlines his plan to cut energy costs by 50%.

“We want to achieve energy dominance quickly,” he said.

He noted that rising mortgage payments, declining incomes and rising prices are putting American families under great stress.

“What could get cheaper than Kamala Harris and Crooked Joe?” Trump asked the crowd.

Trump warned of what would happen if Harris were elected.

“If Harris gets four more years, your finances will never recover. Our country will never recover,” he said. “If you vote for Trump, your incomes will soar, your savings will grow, young people will be able to buy homes, and we’ll bring back the American Dream bigger, better and stronger than ever.”

President Trump has promised that his administration will make controlling inflation a priority.

“On my first day back in the Oval Office, I will sign an executive order directing all Cabinet and agency heads to use every tool and authority available to combat inflation and rapidly reduce consumer prices,” Trump said. “I am directing my Cabinet members to do just that, and I expect to see results within my first 100 days, if not sooner.”

He also said he would end tax cuts and end the “Biden/Harris electric vehicle mandate.”

“There’s a great market for electric vehicles, but … you should be able to go out and buy the one you want,” Trump said.

Trump said Americans would see better times if he was elected.

“Everybody will thrive, every family will thrive, and every day will be filled with opportunity and hope and joy,” Trump said. “On November 5th, we’re going to save our economy, we’re going to save the middle class, we’re going to put America first, and we’re going to make America great again.”
